Raising Buchanan
Aimless Woman. Reckless Plan. Worthless President.
Raising Buchanan | Official Trailer
The official trailer for Bruce Dellis' comedy RAISING BUCHANAN. Starring René Auberjonois, Amanda Melby, Cathy Shim, Terence Bernie Hines, Robert Ben Garant, Jennifer Pfalzgraff, Steve Briscoe and M. Emmet Walsh.
About the Film
In suburban Phoenix, 40-year-old Ruth Kiesling is not exactly "living the dream." She's a donut shop employee with anger issues.
Ever the opportunist and desperate for money, she "steals" the body of President James Buchanan hoping to ransom him for a nice windfall — but she's surprised to discover that no one seems particularly interested in getting him back.

Press & Reviews
95% recommend — Based on the opinion of 20 people
“There's a studied silliness that can only be described as Coenesque. It's all absurd, which adds to the charm.”
— Austin Chronicle
“Raising Buchanan's dry sense of humor, wonderful cast, and quirky premise will steal your heart.”
— Watch or Pass
“The film's good-natured tone is unexpected and refreshing.”
— Film Threat
“Auberjonois is terrific, and has a nice chemistry with her. He pulls off the neat trick of remaining sympathetic while never really improving his status as such an awful leader.”
— Arizona Republic
“Simply as a showcase for two of the best character actors of the last fifty years, Raising Buchanan deserves praise.”
— Phoenix Magazine
“Dellis's screenplay is full of witticism, cynicism, and wisdom.”
— Phoenix Film Critics
“This is probably one of the most original concepts for a film that I have seen in years.”
— Whiskey & Popcorn
“An enormously clever comedy that had the risk of going off the rails and becoming madcap, but instead through the timely written dialogue between Ruth and Buchanan it oddly enough helps keep the movie grounded.”
— Two Gay Geeks
“Melby's prickly irreverence and Auberjonois' stately stubbornness is a formula for perfect chemistry.”
— Alexandria Times
“A very well scripted and well edited quirky little adorable comedy. The lead, Amanda Melby gave a very endearing performance.”
— The Coda
